Multiple applied research projects for Ford Credit IT Research (TechART) will be taking place in the Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain (BC), Quantum Computing (QC), and related workstreams in 2024. These include research and applied research in areas of AI/ML, AI/NLP, Computer Vision, Quantum Computing simulations, Blockchain digitial identity, Cognitive Science, Cybersecurity, and Deep Learning. We will also be conducting an learning events and working diligently toward democratization of AI and other high complexity technologies so that IT can participate and grow in capability and career.

This position will focus on and drive participation in researching the latest cutting-edge efforts and technologies within the applied technology and learning spaces, and conducting applied research efforts in the lab environment with cross-functional TechART, Ford ET, and Credit IT personnel (as well as others from analytics-based groups). Researcher will be involved in all aspects of applied research from idea inception to brainstorming to applicability testing.

Measurable objectives:

1. Researching and describing latest cutting-edge technologies and efforts in the advanced technology space, including creation of a white paper describing all efforts, including applicability evaluation for the Ford Credit business portfolio. Paper should reflect a gained understanding of the high complexity of related technologies and descriptions of adoption feasibility for each explored innovation/technology, including alternatives for further work. Measurables will include quality and comprehensiveness of documentation.

2. Conduct applied research in firewalled and cloud based applied research laboratories to be used for benchmarking and applicability testing of technologies, including Edge Computing, Semantic Web, Big Data, Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, Distributed Computing, and Knowledge Based Engineering, Blockchain, and QC simulation tools. Ensure tools perform functions that relate to Ford Credit potential business solutions. Measurables will include number and functional quality of components installed and tested.

3. Create datasets and working models and demos from existing data sources to support applied research efforts, including semantic triples from database and Ontology sources, natural language processing domain models, pattern recognition baseline data, and other technical big data from industry and Ford. Ensure that data is high quality and identify opportunities for obtaining data from inter-portfolio and industry sources. Measurables will include number of data sources identified and number and quality of models created.

4. Participate in brainstorming sessions with IT and Business personnel. Demonstrate skills of listening, learning, and sharing. Measurables will include quality and comprehensiveness of notes reflecting an understanding of the discussions.

Required Skills:

• College and/or work experience with medium/high IT concepts

• Major in a cognitive sciences related curriculum (computer science, computational linguistics, cognitive psychology, music theory, etcetera)

• Aptitude for complex IT research and brainstorming

• Strong motivation to enjoy learning and creating
